Glymur Valley in Fall - 12" x 16"
Printed on MOAB Lasal Exhibition luster paper. The fall colors of this Icelandlc valley pop under any lighting.
A hike that began very early in the morning, with hopes for glorious golden hour lighting… I didn’t get the color in the sky that I’d hoped for, with only a few clearings of an otherwise grey and undramatic haze. But the colors in the valley more than made up for it. Missing from this photo is the famed waterfall itself, Glymur, the second tallest waterfall in Iceland. It can only be viewed from atop the cliffs on the other side of the river. The only crossing, however involves a bit of wading and a balancing across a log. Due to some heavy rains in the days before this outing, the water was running high and heavy, and I thought it best not to tempt fate (see the companion image in this post for a look at what helped (see below for a look at what helped make my decision for me).
This left me on the wrong side of the river with a very rugged and muddy hike along a dangerous cliff edge for a better vantage point. Needless to say, the waterfall still eluded me before I turned back to get this wider view of the valley (I made it out on to that highest cliff edge on the left of this image, but still no view of the falls at all). All in all, however, it was a wonderful morning completely alone in a fairly isolated and untrafficked part of Iceland.
12” wide by 16” tall. Best matted and framed for 16” x 20” matted picture frame (not included). Contact me for custom matting/framing quotes.
Limited to 50 prints. Includes numbered & signed badge on the back of the image.

Here you can see the only option for continuing on the trail to the second tallest waterfall in Iceland. I opted to change my hiking plans…
